Introducing: The Pulse - Vuber’s Flagship Vaporizer Battery
Pulse
The Pulse is Vuber’s flagship vaporizer battery driven by their exclusive “Never Burn” technology, and is the most premium option in their current line of pen-style batteries (which also include the Pulse Touch, Pilot, and Atlas batteries). Vuber boasts design utility patents on the Pulse, which really makes it unique and unlike other batteries on the market. It features automatic and manual settings, which help to make it a very versatile option for cartridge enthusiasts.
The Vuber Pulse is powered by a 400 mAh lithium-ion core with USB-C charging, features an OLED screen, uses button-activation, and is ready out of the box for your 510 threaded cartridges. It can also be used with most magnetic cartridges and wax atomizers, though doing so requires separate attachments.
What really makes this battery special is what Vuber calls its “Never Burn” technology – the battery will automatically detect the resistance of the connected cartridge and will adjust the voltage to the best setting for that cartridge. Then, once you begin to press the button, the voltage will be gradually reduced every 3 seconds. This allows for full, flavorful hits without having to worry about applying too much heat to your cartridge.
Overall, the Pulse is a nicely crafted and versatile device that is worth adding to your battery collection!
Review:
How to Use
The Pulse is a straightforward device to use – simply turn the battery on by clicking the button 5 times rapidly, then attach your 510 threaded cartridge to the top of the battery. You’ll notice on the OLED screen that the resistance will be set for the cartridge (noted by a Ω symbol) and the voltage will be automatically set. Press and hold the button when you’re ready to start producing vapor – that’s it!
A manual mode is also built into the device, with 4 pre-programmed voltages for those who want to control the voltage themselves. The battery can be placed back into automatic mode by removing and re-attaching the cartridge while the device is still powered on.
For magnetic cartridges, you’ll need the Pulse Magnetic adapter. This is a small accessory that you attach to the Pulse, which will then accept cartridges made with magnetic adapters built in.
For wax atomizers, you’ll want to pick up the Pulse Wax Adapter accessory – this will allow you to vape with your favorite wax atomizer or Vuber Atlas Top and use the battery as a portable dab pen.
Build Quality
For a pen-style battery, the Pulse fits nicely in the hand and has some heft to it – it’s not too heavy but it feels like a solidly built piece of hardware. The outer shell of the battery is a black, metallic finish and features a tapered design at the bottom and tops of the battery. The button is a translucent plastic material that lights up when pressed and features Vuber’s “V” icon on it. The OLED screen is bright and clear and shows the Voltage, Wattage, Resistance, and Battery life for the battery. Finally, the Pulse features its USB-C charging port on the bottom for easy and rapid charging. One thing I particularly noticed was how solid the charging port seems to be when the cable is connected.
Overall, the Pulse features a high quality build and is a premium-feeling pen battery. I like the way that it feels in my hand – the taper at the bottom allows you to get a good grip on the battery while still keeping the button accessible. It’s on the taller side of batteries when compared to basic pen-style batteries, but it doesn’t feel oversized – it fits nicely in my front pocket without any issues (just remember to turn it off!).
Power & Performance
The Pulse has the versatility to work with oils of all types and viscosities thanks to its manual override settings, in addition to the automatic mode that is featured on the battery. By default, the Pulse will select the proper voltage based on the resistance provided by the cartridge atomizer when attached. However, this can be overridden by pressing the button three times rapidly and you’ll be able to cycle through the four preset voltages: 2.8 Volts, 3.2 Volts, 3.4 Volts, and 3.7 Volts. Having the flexibility to adjust the voltage amount is great – it’s nice to have lower voltages for live resin and rosin carts, while the higher settings provide fantastic vapor production.
Whether in manual mode or automatic mode, the Pulse also reduces the voltage of the battery as the button is held down, so the heat is gently tapered down during your hit. This is really what drives the “Never Burn” technology, as it was developed to reduce over-burning of cartridges – a gradual decrease of temperature is thought to help preserve the terpenes in the oil, which greatly affect the taste of your cart. Some batteries fire at a constant voltage, which if set too high, can quickly degrade the terpene content, and alter the taste of your cartridge; the Pulse certainly doesn’t run into this issue with the voltage being tapered down gently. Whether you’re chasing terpenes or clouds, the Pulse will certainly take care of both for you.
Ease of Use
I found the Pulse to be a very easy battery to use. For the most part, I left it in the automatic mode and let it do the work for me. Though when I did have a live resin cart, it was fairly easy to switch over to the lowest voltage without much fuss. All you really need to do is connect a cartridge, press the button and you’re off on your way! The 400 mAh battery charges very quickly thanks to the USB-C charging ability. It also has pass-through charging, so it can be used while being charged. For an everyday user, you should be able to get 1-2 days of consistent use out of the Pulse.
The Pulse functions well as a concentrate vaporizer as well with the Pulse wax adapter. I found it to be very capable for using as a portable dab pen with the Atlas Top from Vuber and it performed well. The functions are all the same – you can still adjust the voltage or just attach the atomizer and let the Pulse handle the voltage for you. The atomizer had plenty of heat to vaporize the concentrate that I was using, and I was able to get great vapor production without any trouble.
Portability and Discretion
The Pulse easily fits into a pants pocket or even in a small handbag – its very easy to take along and pack as part of your everyday carry. It measures out at a little over 4 inches tall, and weighs just 1.5 ounces. As far as discretion is concerned, it’s a bit of a tossup – it doesn’t look like every other pen battery thanks to its unique design, but the cartridge is exposed (there’s no way to cover the cart), meaning that it will likely be seen as some sort of oil or liquid vape. Overall, I think that most people would simply think it was like any other vaporizer pen device.
Final Verdict
The Pulse is a very versatile option for those looking for a different experience when it comes to cartridges. The tapered voltage function is phenomenal and unlike any other battery I’ve tried so far. I was able to consistently get great vapor production along with flavor. With an MSRP of $59.99, its poised as a premium battery offering from Vuber – it’s certainly their most expensive pen battery, but by no means is the most expensive battery on the market. After having a chance to try the battery out and understand the tech behind it, I think it’s absolutely worth the price tag. It’s a great device that offers a unique take on how to handle heating the cartridge. Additionally, it’s worth noting that Vuber backs all of their batteries with a Limited Lifetime Warranty for two years (which is the average life of most lithium-ion batteries), so you have the piece of mind knowing that your product is supported.
